JOHN MAYER CAN BE A GOOD GUY... REALLY! Posted February 25, 2010 by Chuck Lakefield

If John Mayer wants to improve his image, this could be one way to do it. In between all of the Playboy interview controversy, Mayer is still just a singer-songwriter who happens to be on tour right now. And on Sunday (February 21st) Mayer raised the "awww" factor when he pulled an 11-year-old fan up on stage at Philadelphia's Wachovia Center.
OK! magazine reports that Mayer spotted the aspiring guitarist's sign that read, "Can I please play 'Belief' with you?" The boy, named Austin, played guitar on stage during the song, resulting in thunderous applause. At the end of the performance, Mayer said, "That's my man!" before giving the guitar to the boy.
    * The boy's mom said Mayer made her son's dream come true, adding, "John gave him the guitar after the show and we needed security to get out of the stadium. Everyone wanted a picture with him. If you get a chance watch some of the videos on You Tube, it is touching. As John said, 'the kid pulled through.' I just wanted to thank JM for pulling through for Austin."

Always seems like the folks that can't win a reasonable arguement have to resort to calling their opponents names... just a thought.

HOW CASH STRAPPED ARE THE RECORD COMPANIES??? Posted February 17, 2010 by Chuck Lakefield

EMI (one of the FOREIGN OWNED RECORD COMPANIES TRYING TO KILL LOCAL RADIO WITH A HUGE TAX ON SONGS PLAYED ON THE RADIO) IS HURTING SO BAD... THEY WANT TO SELL OFF..... ABBEY ROAD!!

The Home of the Beatles, among other great acts (Pink Floyd, Mike Oldfield, Spandau Ballet, Simple Minds) is on the block.

The studios and building, which was built as a Georgian Townhouse in 1831, are also a huge tourist draw as the video below shows.

Anybody wanna buy a slightly used HISTORIC recording studio???

A change for OSCAR! Posted February 16, 2010 by Chuck Lakefield

No one knows yet who'll win the two dozen Academy Awards that'll be handed out on March 7, so ... R.S. Owens, the company that manufactures the trophies is hedging its bets and engraving 197 nameplates, one for each potential prizewinner.

That means, for the first time ever, newly-minted Academy Award winners will get their trophies personalized on Oscar night, instead of taking home blank-based statuettes that they have to bring back to the Academy for engraving in the days after the ceremony.

According to a press release from the Academy, winners will still pick up blank Oscars at the podium, but if they bring their prizes to the Governors Ball (the Academy's official post-Oscar bash, held next door to the Kodak Theatre), they'll be able to have their pre-made nameplates attached by Academy technicians during the party.

Owens is also engraving the nearly 200 nominees' nameplates, complete with the potential winner's name, the award category, the film title, and the year. As for the 175 or so nameplates that go unused, the Academy statement says they'll be "recycled." or maybe just find their way to eBay?? (moviefone.com)

Mattel's coming out this summer with an Twitter-enabled dog collar. The collar detects when your dog moves or barks and tweets one of 500 pre-written messages. It's not for sale until this fall, but Mattel's Puppy Tweet, a tweeting dog collar, has already generated blog post after blog post. Every time your dog moves, barks or growls, the collar sends a pre-programmed tweet... chosen at random from a selection of 500 options, including "I bark because I miss you — there, now hurry home" and "I finally caught that tail I've been chasing and....OOUUUCCHHH!" It's Mattel's first product for pets, and the company is careful to say the device, with a suggested retail price of $29.99, is "just a toy."

The upcoming event will feature 31 musicians, consisting of a full orchestra and band. Dion's new concert documentary, Celine: Through the Eyes Of The World, starts to hit theaters February 17th.

HOLLYWOOD'S MOST DESIRED FIGURE Posted February 12, 2010 by Chuck Lakefield

Fergie topped this year's list of Hollywood's most-desired figure -- beating out former winners Jennifer Aniston and Eva Longoria Parker. The 13th annual Famed Hottest Looks list was compiled by the offices of two Beverly Hills plastic surgeons. As doctors, they record the most-requested celebrity body parts and features.
So why Fergie? Dr. Richard W. Fleming told FoxNews.com, "Fergie's body is proportional -- that's really the key. Women like Jennifer Aniston and Eva Longoria have topped the 'best body' list in the past. They're not as curvy as Fergie is, but they're all proportional."
Coming in second this year was model Gisele Bundchen and actress Olivia Wilde.
    * Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie topped the list for most-requested lips. Fleming said, "The two of them are the whole package -- they're considered to be gorgeous, very talented entertainers and they do a tremendous amount of good will, all of which makes them appealing. But the only way you can get Jolie's lips is through the gene pool."
    * Jolie's lips were followed by Jessica Alba and Katherine Heigl.
    * Pitt's lips were followed by David Duchovny and Will Smith.
    * Topping Hollywood hair this year was Glee star Lea Michele, followed by Taylor Swift and Alicia Keys.

How do you feel about the term "Cougar"?? My wife Barb thinks it's disgusting.
