Bear is a Mastiff Mix! And more Details on Low Cost Vet Services at FVHA! Posted March 14, 2012 by Chuck Lakefield

This is Bear. She is a 6-year-old Mastiff mix. Bear came to the shelter as a stray. She’s a big sweetie and is looking for someone to be best friends with. She loves to play with toys and is great at fetch. Bear is respectful of other dog’s space and likes to give them a good sniff, but that’s about it. She’s an active, strong dog that needs an equally active home who will exercise and spend time playing with her.

NOW - LOW COST VACCINATIONS AND SPAY/NEUTER SERVICES AT F.V.H.A.!!

The Fox Valley Humane Association is offering routine vaccinations for 1,000 cats and dogs of qualified low income families for just $5 per animal throughout the month of March.  FVHA is also offering low-cost spay and neuter surgeries throughout the year.  Services are available to residents of Outagamie or Winnebago counties.

FVHA is offering these inexpensive medical options to assist families with the costs of having a pet in the family.  Many animals come to the shelter because their families are no longer able to afford them, but FVHA hopes that these programs lessen the expenses and will allow families to keep their beloved pets.  Through the March vaccination program, the veterinarian team at FVHA will administer a rabies and distemper vaccine and dewormer for each animal at $5 per animal.  FVHA’s veterinarian team will also complete spay or neuter surgeries.  Costs are as follows:  $50 for a cat spay and rabies, $33 for a cat neuter and rabies, $75 for a dog spay or neuter (over four months old), and $85 for a puppy spay or neuter (under four months old).

September brought us 435 unwanted stray and surrendered pets. We are the only shelter in the area that never turns an animal away or charges a surrender fee and unfortunately there is no end in sight! We have just about run out of food supplies- any help in this area would be very much appreciated!”

The shelter prefers Purina one or Iams dog, as well as canned dog food but all donations are welcome!

Donations can be brought to the shelter at N115 Two Mile Road in Greenville. Shelter hours are Monday and Friday 12-5, Tuesday and Thursday 12-7 and Saturday 12-3. Or visit our website at www.foxvalletpets.org  Phone us at 733-1717.
