Here's Jerry! FVHA Pet of the Week Posted May 14, 2012 by David Louis

Jerry is a 5 month old Shih-Tzu/Poodle mix. He and his brother Ben came to the shelter as strays. Jerry is a silly, happy puppy who is very social and loves people. He would be great in any active family, but will jump up on people, so smaller children are not recommended. He will need moderate exercise and would do best in a home with another younger dog, like Ben.

Jerry

· Jerry is not potty-trained; crate-training is recommended · He will need bathing, brushing, and professional grooming · Ben and Jerry would do fine apart, but would love to go home together About this breed: Poodles have hypoallergenic coats which may reduce allergic reactions, but require professional grooming. They are an active breed who require daily exercise. These are basic breed observations, but may not all apply to this specific dog. Visit FVHA online at http://www.foxvalleypets.org/

Don't Miss the Supermoon Saturday Posted May 3, 2012 by David Louis

From MSNBC: The biggest full moon of the year, a so-called "supermoon," will take center stage when it rises this weekend, and may interfere with the peak of an annual meteor shower created by the leftovers from Halley's comet. The supermoon of 2012 is the biggest full moon of the year and will occur on Saturday at 11:35 p.m. EDT, though the moon may still appear full to skywatchers on the day before and after the actual event. At the same time, the annual Eta Aquarid meteor shower will be hitting its peak, NASA scientists say. More.

No man should die like this Posted April 27, 2012 by David Louis

Hand squeezing a ball

There are worse ways to die, but you probably don't want to think about them, especially if you're a guy. A Chinese man was reportedly killed last week when a woman squeezed his testicles until he collapsed during a fight over a parking space. An unidentified 41-year-old woman in China's Haiku City in the Hainan Province rode into town on her scooter to pick her child up from school. The woman tried to park in front of a local store, but the store owner, the 42-year-old victim, refused to allow it, China News 24 reported. The resulting fight escalated, leading the woman to call her husband and brother, who in turn got into a more violent fist fight with the shopkeeper, according to the website. At some point in the fracas, the woman grabbed the man's testicles and squeezed them until he collapsed. He was taken to a hospital for treatment and later died. More.

Armless Drummer Rocks Posted April 24, 2012 by David Louis

MSN - Cornel Hrisca-Munn was born an orphan in Romania, has no arms and had to have one leg amputated as a child. He's also a kickass drummer, adding beats to (and, in most cases, improving) several Top 40 songs on his YouTube channel. When he's not turning Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" into something more than just a fluffy Abercrombie-ish soundtrack, he's a student at Keble College at Oxford University. "If I just heard his drumming without seeing him, I would say he had no handicap at all," one commenter said. "This guy knows how to jam."

THE Cheesiest video ever: Journey Posted April 20, 2012 by David Louis

In 1983, to promote their hit single "Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)," Journey shot their first scripted music video that wasn't just remastered concert footage (or in-studio footage). If the goal was to make a great music video, that did not happen. If the goal was to make one of the cheesiest music videos ever put to film -- a video so infamous that, almost 30 years later, we're still talking about it -- then, yes mission accomplished.

Journey guitarist Neal Schon and keyboardist Jonathan Cain are in New York, along with new frontman Arnel Pineda, to promote the Tribeca Film Festival documentary "Don't Stop Believin': Everyman's Journey" -- the story of how Pineda went from YouTube to the new lead singer of Journey. The full interview will publish next week, but this reporter couldn't resist asking Schon and Cain about their experience air guitaring through what might be one of the most ridiculous videos of all time (if you believe Beavis and Butthead, that is). BK Whopper with 1,050 strips of bacon! Posted April 18, 2012 by David Louis

Whopper with 1,050 strips of bacon

Burger King Japan is offering a promotion in which you can add 15 strips of bacon on your burger for a mere 110 Yen, or $1.24.

Fifteen bacon strips are chump change for some porkophiles, though. In the video below, a dude attempts to chow down on a Whopper with 1,050 BACON STRIPS, or 70 15-strip upgrades. (Burger King takes their "Have It Your Way" slogan very seriously.) Watch him tackle this monster here.
