The former Beatle said it was finally time to give up smoking the drug due to a “sense of responsibility” in caring for his daughter. “I smoked my share. Naked Romans? Must be Valentines Day! Posted February 14, 2012 by David Louis

Way more fun than dinner, roses and chocolate...

From National Geographic- More than a Hallmark holiday, Valentine's Day, like Halloween, is rooted in pagan partying.

The lovers' holiday traces its roots to raucous annual Roman festivals where men stripped naked, grabbed goat- or dog-skin whips, and spanked young maidens in hopes of increasing their fertility, said classics professor Noel Lenski of the University of Colorado at Boulder. The annual pagan celebration, called Lupercalia, was held every year on February 15 and remained wildly popular well into the fifth century A.D.—at least 150 years after Constantine made Christianity the official religion of the Roman Empire.

Don't miss this year's Grammys Posted February 9, 2012 by David Louis

Why watch the Grammys Sunday night? Because it'll be one to remember. Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will be playing. Sir Paul McCartney will be playing too. Glen Campbell is going to give his farewell Grammy performance.  The Beach Boys are reuniting and performing with Foster the People, one of my favorite new artists. Joe Walsh has also been lined up to perform. If you have kids and watch together, this Grammy Awards might be a perfect blend of young and old.

Neil Young on Hi Def music downloads Posted February 1, 2012 by David Louis

CNN - Apple's ambition to improve the fidelity of music downloads has diminished since the death of founder Steve Jobs, according to singer-songwriter Neil Young. "Steve Jobs was a pioneer of digital music," Young said. "But when he went home, he listened to vinyl."

Industry-standard MP3 files have only about 5% of all the sounds that were contained in the original recording, which is called a "master." Because high-def music files are significantly larger, Young described a system that would allow the device to download it while the user is asleep. Full article here.
