WAUSAU (WRN) - A state appeals court brought back a $5 million damage award today in a family feud involving a world famous maker of beef jerky. Jay Link said he was wrongly cut out of his father’s business – Link Snacks of Minong – in 2005. A jury ordered company founder Jack Link to pay his son $5 million. Jack appealed. A judge later agreed the award was excessive and cut it to $736,000. But Tuesday, the 3rd District Appellate Court in Wausau said Jack Link filed his appeal one day after a required deadline – so it restored the original $5 million award. Link Snacks sells beef jerky and other meat snacks throughout the world.
