WATERTOWN, Wis. (WTAQ) - A new report reveals how much of a shoestring U.S. Senate candidate Dave Westlake is running on, compared to his GOP primary opponent Ron Johnson.

Westlake, a Watertown businessman, tells the AP that his financial assets include a $28,000 salary and 4 assets valued at $1,000 to $15,000. Johnson, the Oshkosh businessman who got the state GOP’s endorsement, said he has over 150 assets – and 3 of them are over $1 million each.

Johnson said over the weekend he would liquidate certain holdings so he can put the money toward the Senate race. And that includes his stock shares in BP, the firm that’s cleaning up the Gulf oil spill. The winner of the September primary will face 3-term Senate Democrat Russ Feingold in November.
