Authorities in South Carolina spent six weeks trying to identify a body found near a freeway and they finally learned he was a drifter born in Wisconsin.
37-year-old Keith Konkol had no ties to South Carolina and because of that, sheriff’s deputies said it was hard to identify him, after his body was found June 14th.
It was picked up in a wooded area near Interstate 26 at Newberry South Carolina. Sheriff Lee Foster said Konkol and another man were heading from Florida to Tennessee when Konkol died in his sleep from an overdose of painkillers and other drugs.
The other man said he panicked. And he dragged Konkol’s body into the woods and left it. It was not immediately known where in Wisconsin Konkol was born. He also lived in Florida for awhile, and was most recently in Kingsport Tennessee.
