KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Strong storms that rolled through the area Monday darkened skies, flooded roadways, and knocked a few trees and power lines to the ground through out west Michigan. One man in Kent County was killed when a tree fell on him in his backyard.
Storms reached Kalamazoo shortly before 11 a.m. Monday with torrential rain. An hour later just over 21-thousand Kalamazoo County residents found themselves without electricity with thousands more without power scattered throughout west Michigan.
Consumers Energy crews are still working to restore power. They say most should have power again by late Wednesday, though some in Kalamazoo County could be without service until Thursday.
