The Free Press Reports That The Red Wings Will Announce That Goalie Chris Osgood Will Be Back
It appears to be a lock now that veteran goalie Chris Osgood will be the Red Wings backup goalie for this coming season. The Detroit Free Press reports that the Red Wings have scheduled a conference call for today to announce that the 38-year Osgood will be back in Motown for another season, ready to fill in for starter Jimmy Howard.
Osgood didn’t play beyond January last season after having sports hernia surgery. Before the operation, Osgood became the tenth goalie in the NHL to reach 400 victories. He was in net for a pair of Stanley Cups inDetroitand also helped lead the Red Wings to Game Seven of the 2009 Stanley Cup Finals.
