UNDATED (WSAU) - The summer travel season officially kicks off in less than a week, but there are concerns high gas prices may dampen travel plans.
Triple-A Wisconsin officials said its annual survey still predicts a slight increase in travel this year for the upcoming Memorial Day weekend. Some 35 million people nationwide are expected to travel next weekend, including about 700,000 in Wisconsin. Only about 40-percent of survey responders said high gas prices will have an impact on their summer plans.
Triple-A officials said the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in Wisconsin is still about a dollar higher than it was at this time last year.
