OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ) - With sturgeon spearing season beginning this weekend, and ice conditions being a big concern, the Oshkosh Fire Department is preparing for any potential problems.

The fire station on Ceape Street will be fully staffed throughout the weekend and crews will be on stand-by if they're needed for an ice rescue.

FOX 11 reports that firefighters have their Husky airboat prepared for deployment at a moment's notice and their gear is ready.

DNR officials said Tuesday they're hopeful everyone heading out onto Lake Winnebago this weekend will listen to the thin ice warnings.
